cropped denim

Standard

I wanted to revive my jeans for the summer season; so I cutoff my favorite Citizens of Humanity pair (village thrift $7.90) and folded the cuff up under 2x just above the knee (no sewing needed)

J. Crew Button front blouse only 3.75 at Goodwill in Winston Salem witha few tortoise shell bracelets and a vintage class ring adds some pizazz, but still dressed down enough for Camden Yards

Shoes by Banana Republic; bag by Kate Spade and leather belt from the Gap

All that’s gold glitters

Standard

I found two treasures at Banana Republic in this gold flecked  crewneck light cable knit summer sweater; on sale for $12.97;  and the glimmering gold dogwood flower necklace with brown crystal drops  $10.97; gorgeously pair together.

For fun; I pulled it over my new blue romper (forever 21 $6.99) and sported neutral canvas pumps.

Shoes are also by Banana Republic; found at village thrift $12.90

I love the bling

The Tab and the tabby

Standard

The sis and I walked downtown to the Old Winston Social Club, and quite a variety of half-pints later, our tab was less than $20. Hard to find a cool place with a great atmosphere and a pricetag like in most cities.

It was hard to decide what to wear; my suitcase had grown since I arrived, and walking into town required practical shoes; so here’s what I settled on, though I wish I’d packed my wide woven belt.

Talbot’s striated A-line skirt from the Snob Shop at an 80% discount =$2.46!!! Banana Republic  short-sleeve cotton/linen orange sweater; I repurposed the thrift store necklace and circle green-beaded earrings again$4.90 and $3.90, and Columbia flip-flops 16.99 at Marshalls

My favorite was a local brew; Red Oak’s (from Greensboro) Hummingbird. Cheers!

The best part of the night, was meeting these little guys on the walk home; a mama and daddy with 5 kittens; I had such an amazing time in W-S.

Hatta Girl

Standard

It was a bright and sunshiney day in Winston-Salem, so why not shade myself from the rays in style with an adorable straw chapeau I borrowed from my sis (she found it at Tuesday Morning)

This is my new romper(one more for the collection-but it only cost 6.99 at Forever 21) and we romped around cute consignments shops today, like this one called the Snob Shop.

The necklace I picked up from Village thrift, seems to be pairing well with everything, and the beaded sandals too!

I belted this lightweight BR cardigan over top to keep the sun off my shoulders

The brown, beige and blue

Standard

A pop of robin’s egg blue in a neutral palette with gold accents; makes a chic summery look; a way to dress up these shorts for a daytime outing .The vintage costume necklace copasetically enhanced the vibrant sweater

We went to Foothills Brewery and happened upon the All Star game celebration with a great live band, so we sat outside and enjoyed the festivities

In the last photo you’ll see some more downtown Winston-Salem charm; love the juxtaposition of the ancient Doric columns with the modern metal fountain sculpture

A Splash in the Dash

Standard

I’m in Winston-Salem; aka the Dash, visiting my sister and this charming city is full of colorful murals and vintage shops, I’m having a blast! Here’s a spin on a prepster chic ensemble that seems jut right for this happenin town:

Mango colored shorts by Old Navy(4.90)  add a pop of color with a teal ribbed cotton tank by Mossimo(2.90) tucked in

Navy Blazer by AT LOFT (9.88) with a gold broach and necklace (4.90) from the thrift

Wedges and gold skinny belt by Banana Republic and Kate Spade Satchel

Happy Father’s Day

Fujimar

Standard

I bought this Max Studio short sleeved dress(9.90 at thrift)  to match the pair of Columbia walking sandals that I knew I would need for the evening stroll to the restaurant I picked out for my date tonight, but as you can see in the picture, I switched them out for my gladiator wedges when I got there, just to make sure they’d let me in.

Best sushi ever!

I couldn’t resist sitting in the bubble chair!!!

Tribal Instinct

Standard

Bringing down the cost per wear on my Native American beaded sandals makes the price of this tribal influenced ensemble extra nice. After their third outing, these $25 shoes are down to almost eight bucks.

The secret behind these American Eagle black skinny jeans….I got them for free as they were unclaimed for months in the lost and found, someone had to adopt them and give them a good home (The problem is keeping them black-I had to wipe ff the pet fur in this picture)

The batik printed silk blouse in coral, black and brown was marked down to $4.88 at AT LOFT, plus a %15 teacher discount on the total and is complemented by either Brazilian bracelet; one made from Acai beads and the other one wood. (I think they were 10 Rei each ~$5USD) I love the peplum ruffles and minute buttons

And of course my summer tote by Loeffler Randall for Target for a complete look.

Undershirt

Standard

Try a white blouse underneath your casual LBD to freshen it up!

Keep the accessories classic; tortoiseshell bracelets, small gold hoops, plain black patent peep toe pumps (always ok to add a bit of shine to a neutral pallette)

For an Empire waist, add a neutral belt, but preferably not black, it would just blend into the dress

Pintuck accents on the neckline of the blouse are a nice subtle delicate detail

I love this LBD because its cotton for more casual work occasions, and the faint grey polka dots make it fun!

plain polka

Standard

Sometimes its the simple things in life….like a plain tee to downplay the power of a polka dotted pencil. I love the muted palette with soft brown and pearly-white.
